Flutterby

I snapped a Red Admiral earlier in the day but i can;t for the life of me find out the name of this lovely butterfly. It settled happily on the flower nearest me and ignored me snapping away close up and personal :) I haven't seen enough Flutterbys this year, it was great to see them out in force on Sunday.

In between

Just as night fell, as day ended, as cloud covered sun.....in between time. Liminal moments come from many directions.

Pink Blush

We went out recently to Finnstown House where ew had our wedding reception in April, to ahve dinner and just wallow generally in the memories. They're renovating the place and one of the nicest improvements is the number of plants, flowers, hanging flower pots, etc they've put around the place.

Swans and Chimney Stacks

Only in Dublin
would two swans
crossing the docks
greet you in March

Light reflecting
refracting the image
of urban life
and city living

hazy sun and
smokey stacks
a tall ship mast
and two wild swans

Welcome to my city
cosmopolitan
21st century
metropolis

Welcome to my city
Viking terrority
mystical land
mysterious port.

Sunset after Rain, Portpatrick, Scotland

Hoping for a little sympathetic magic...Sunset after rain, and hopefully the gods of weather might take pity on us and give us a few sunny days soon....

Light and Dark

Once again experimenting with the manual settings and getting a little braver. I like the contrasts in this one - the vase looks illuminated and there is plenty of detail through the window, and shadows and patterns on the white window walls and the mahogany sill.

Inside the White Pagoda

I love the lace effect and the freshly renovated white against a blue sky. remember blue skies? that's what used to appear in summer or so I believe, it's been so long....Anyway another bright shot in the hope of creating some sympathetic magic and affecting the weather for the weekend :)

Autumn is Here

Many a happy day spent blackberrying in the lanes and fields and hedgerows around Wicklow as a child; especially for us Dublin Jackeens, the idea of picking your food off a plant, it just lying there waiting to be plucked, was fascinating and remains so til this day.

Bronze lantern

I really just like all the different browns in this :) Earthy tones and the shining bronze -Plus it's nice to post pictures taken in sunshine considering it's black and rainy here in Dublin right now.
