Crossing a line

And we've definitely crossed into winter. The same trees I was photographing only a few days ago has lost all its leaves now; it's dark when I get up and dark when I leave work. But on the plus side, I'm 40 tomorrow and we're having a party :) :) Light a bonfire against the darkening year, or in my case "years" :)

One Last Leaf

Thursday, October 23, 2008

This is how I feel today..

I opened the front door and instead of a rosy Autumnal dawn it was freezing cold, wet and windy; I literally wanted to turn tail and hide under the covers. I feel grey. And cold.

Snail's Pace

Autumn Leaves

A friend who lives on a rock in the north sea was bemoaning the lack of trees (nothing can grow higher than a hedgerow because of the wind) and asked for photos to remind him of the colours and look of Autumn...this is one I took on the spur of the moment yesterday morning, a pile of leaf litter outside my parents' house. I was pleased that I manage to frame the central leaf, and that it wasn't just a pile of dirty leaves!

The Last Stand

The unnatural weather has caused my mint to bloom again and we have several small roses in the front garden; but our landlady's little japenese shrub has turned bright red, in a last burst of glorious colour.

The Last Rose Of Summer.

Just back from a wedding inSligo in the lovely Mullaghmore region; I took some nice shots of Ben Bulben ; Glencar Lake & Waterfall; and Mullaghmore itself. The scenery is beautiful but Mullaghmore has a little bit to learn about servicing the tourist/visitor industry. A great weekend on the whole though, especially as it was a truly happy wedding party. So a whole new range of photos to put up during the week - til then, celebrate the absolute miserable end to a miserable summer :)

November on the Fen, Kildare

We went out onto the fen in Kildare, belonging to my other half's family, for a spot of archery. It's a lovely tract of bog and I couldn;t resist a series of photos trying to capture some of those earthy browns and rusts.

City Park

I like the texture of this one, the dappling of leaves both on tree and ground and the subtle variation of shades.
