Old Soldier

The grounds of Castle Dargan has a number of ancient trees, and especially in the winter they make fantastic outlines against the horizon; they dominate the vista from almost any point on the golf course and especially as you walk towards the castle and turn then back to face the Hotel.

A Different View

In between the Snow we got a beautiful sunny (if cold) day. We walked out to the Castle in the grounds of the hotel and took some shots.

Shades of grey and white

I know the snow is all but a distant memory now; but Sunday of last weekend we woke up to a vista of white and muted tones, and freezing temperatures. Too lazy to venture out into the cold or to risk the intermittent blizzards I made the husband hold up the window (eccentric, and alarmingly unstable old sash windows with wooden shutters) while I snapped away.

Castle Dargan, Sligo

I've been remiss in taking photos recently. Between Christmas and January and Flu (not me, everyone else) and recessions I've hardly been out. But we spent last weekend in the lovely Castle Dargan Hotel in Ballygawley, Sligo; we stayed in the Sally Garden's suite in the old House, looking out across the gentle undulations of the golf course. We had snow, sunshine and then snow and I managed to get some good shots as we wandered across the grounds to the castle ruins and some more from the room, looking out across the course.

This is the view from our room...

St Patrick's Well, Christmas

On the way home from Kildare early on Christmas morning we stopped at the sacred well in a graveyard just outside Newbridge; a lovely place, especially in the sunny mildness of that morning. These are some views from the graveyard around the well.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

I've waited years for a snow day....
and it happens on my day off!
