Dark Flower

It's such a grey day, I did what I usually do on days like this and searched through the back catalogue for photos that cheer me up. I had forgotten this one, I may even have posted it or a similar one before but hell - this is one of my favourites so I'm posting it.

I've been doing Nanowrimo which is great fun but tends to use up all the time and energy I can spare from work. Also have some poetry coming out this month in an journal and busy editing the PPP first anthology - we hope to have it out just before yule which is ambitious!!

Ah well, time was meant to be squandered and no nicer way to do so than looking through photos...

Lord Vesuvius Sits Sullen

Lord Vesuvius sits sullen;
it's been a long time since
his last tantrum. We are still
counting the cost, we tell him
appeasing his mighty temper.
Lord Vesuvius sits shrouded
mysterious in the haze of
springs first sunshine; he will
not promise anything, he tells
us. He may yet have another.

At Table

I sat with you
at table. Among friends
we broke bread
and your hand reached for mine.

Sup wine from my cup,
steal sweets from my plate;
All good things I have
I offer to you, serve them up.

Are your cheeks flushed?
or is it candlelight and fireside -
the heat of the hall?
or is it my touch, cooler than air...

I sit beside you
at table. We are blessed
in each other and friends
and joined by merry words.
